Catholic Life and Mission
Mission
Our Lady of Lourdes School is devoted to Mary the Mother of God who appeared to Saint Bernadette in Lourdes in 18XX. Our mission statement guides us to follow Mary’s example in all we do.
Love like Mary, Serve like Mary, Learn like Mary, Believe like Mary.
The Gospel tells us that in Mary’s life she had a strong faith in God, this meant that with her son Jesus she knew how important it was to love and serve others. During her life she continued to learn about her faith and to accept God’s will even at very difficult times in her life.
Core Values
Our Mission is highlighted through our shared school values where we learn the importance of treating everyone with respect, understanding and kindness. We learn that we are responsible for each other and the world around us. By continuing to follow the example of Mary and her son Jesus we can become the best that we can be.

Prayer and Liturgy
At Our Lady of Lourdes, we believe that collective worship plays a fundamental part in the daily life of our school. It enables us to join together as one community in prayer and Liturgy.

Prayers
At Our Lady of Lourdes prayer is a constant feature in our daily life in school through various shared and individual liturgies.
Prayer also takes place in the morning, before and after lunch and at the end of the school day.
Pupils are also given opportunities to reflect and pray quietly for their own intentions.
Classes have a specific prayer table that aligns with the Liturgical calendar.
All Governing Body and Staff Meetings begin with a shared prayer.
What prayers our children learn
From Reception, children learn to make the Sign of the Cross and begin to recite the Morning Offering, Grace before and after lunch and the Night Prayer with their teacher.
In KS1 children continue with the prayers from reception and learn the Hail Mary, Our Father, Glory Be
In KS2 children continue with the prayers they have learnt and also learn the Hail Holy Queen.
